Got a big interview coming up? Well here are some tips to hit it on the mark from the consultants at Mack:
Bring a copy of your resume: In fact bring a couple of copies, you never know who you might meet with. Maybe the CEO will also want a copy and you always want to look prepared.
Research the company beforehand: Most companies these days have a website so, before you go in, take a gander and read up on thier mission statement and any products they may put out. Gather some of your questions based on this information it will make you look well informed and genuinely interested in the company and thier process.
Ask appropriate questions: Stay away from questions about salary, hours, and dress, all those should have been taken care of before you went into the interview. Instead ask questions about the work environment. Something like “what is your favorite part about working in this office?” will show that you are not just here for the paycheck but also want to get involved in place where you will be a right fit personality wise.
Stay away from anything that might offend: of course don’t drop any unsavory 4 letter words, but even mroe basic than that don’t wear really strong perfume or cologne. Keep the make up more natural. Don’t chew gum. And, we know you might be nervous, but try not to fidget too much, it can be distracting.
Dress to Impress: Wear a suit. Even if you know the office is a more casual one, dress like you want to make a good impression.
Body Language: A strong hand shake can go a long way. It shows you have confidence. Also keep good posture. This again shows a confidence in yourself and your abilities. And keep good eye contact. This lets everyone know that you are paying attention to them and it’s hard to talk to someone who wont look at you in the face, so just keep those eyes up and bright!
Listen: Don’t just wait for your interviewer to stop talking, actually listen to what they’re saying so you can have good follow up questions and be truly engaged in your interview.
Happy Hunting!
